MJFD hosted second grade students fro HCSD on Wednesday May 22nd. The kids were enthusiastic and well behaved. I think all would agree that the siren and air horns on the Ladder truck trump the puny Police car siren. They toured the FD and PD. The adults got eye opening information on the cost of things.... Open burning is prohibited in NYS, with several exceptions:
• Camp fires or any other outdoor fires less than 3 feet in height and 4 feet in length, width or diameter are allowed.
• Small cooking fires are allowed.
• Ceremonial or celebratory bonfires are allowed. Disposal of flags or religious items in a small-sized fire is allowed, if it is not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

HOLLEY – Murray Joint Fire District Chief Rick Cary, left, and Mark Porter, the fire district chairman, are shown with the district’s new fire engine. The pumper-tanker carries 1,000 gallons of water and also has a capacity to pump 1,500 gallons a minute.
